Established in 1983 BetaTHERM has developed considerable expertise in
producing high specification devices for a large number of sectors, the fastest growing
ones being automotive, aerospace, medical, and general instrumentation.
As the list at the left indicates BetaTHERM manufactures a
comprehensive range of standard and custom designed NTC thermistors and Thermistor Probes.
BetaTHERM has manufacturing facilities located in the USA, Ireland,
and the Caribbean and channel partners working in many countries. Total Quality Excellence
is achieved throughout the organisation and, in an effort to accomplish this goal,
accreditation to the ISO 9001 Quality Standard was achieved in 1994.
In The Nordic Countries the management of BETAhas
worked with BetaTHERM since 1984.
To see the datasheets for the products listed you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader which
may be downloaded from Adobe
f.o.c.). The sheets are "optimised" for printout but may very well be studied on
the sceen. It might take from 15 to 90 seconds to load the pages depending on your
Internet connection.

High precision, low cost very
Smart Sensors |
| Smartec is a (10 years) young
company specialised from its birth in high technology and Smart
technology. Smartec was born out of a laboratory concept, where a
temperature sensor was developed at the Technical University of Delft (TUD). This sensor
had all advantages of a normal analogue sensor, plus all advantages of a built in A-D
converter. The sensor could be used as an analogue sensor (maintenance people love this)
and could communicate directly with any CPU, without needing any further interface.
Together with scientific staff of TUD this concept was further developed into a
production type and since 1992 over 2.5 million have been sold. Where the temperature
sensors do not need any calibration (calibration is part of the production process) they
proved to be extremely reliable. Until today the out of calibration sensors returned are
in the PPM range. These sensors however are good for thorough investigation and research
at TUD.
This reflects Smartec's philosophy where it comes to client
satisfaction. Whenever there is a deviation from our own standards, we want to know why
and how to solve it. This keeps us in the top of high tech and state of the art companies.
The Universal Transducer Interface (UTI) was the following step in the Smartec
story. Market research learned most designers prefer their old transducers, because their
behaviour is known. Good interfaces to CPUes however appeared to be expensive and
frequently non-reliable. Here we saw a niche and again together with TUD a UTI was
developed. Testing this UTI till it complied with the Smartec standards
took time and lot of research. From beginning of 1998 the UTI was available for all our
clients.
We are very grateful for all clients trusting Smartec from the
beginning and creating opportunity for such a young company to start from almost scratch.
Our products and services have to convince new clients we are what we stand for: A client
oriented reliable high tech company. |
| High Quality Humidity Sensors from SMARTEC at
an affordable price. |
|
The new capacitive humidity sensor from SMARTEC has meny advantages
not previously found at such a price. This makes it now possible to use a reliable
humidity sensor where it was previously too costly.
- And condensation has no effect on the performance of the SMARTEC humidity
sensor.

Thermal-Tab RTD Features Easy Installation and Low Cost
Minco introduces a new temperature sensor called Thermal-Tab. It consists of a
highly stable platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD) packaged in a low-cost flat
body suitable for mounting on surfaces or insertion into probes or cavities. The sensor is
completely insulated and has rugged Teflon insulated leadwires in a standard length of 40
inches (1 meter).
Standard element types include 100 and 1000 ohm platinum; other curves including NTC or
PTC thermistors are available. The temperature range is -50 to 130EC (-58 to 266EF).
Measuring only 5 x 12 mm (0.20 x 0.47 inches), the Thermal-Tab is easily installed on
surfaces using self-adhesive backing or cements, epoxies, and tapes. It also can be
assembled into probes by sliding into the sheath and securing with potting or a mechanical
crimp.
Units will be available from stock starting mid-September, 1999

MiniSens, the world's smallest platinum thin-film temp.
sensor |
|
BETA and BEATA can now supply a tiny thin-film RTD (W 1,2 x L 1,6 x
H 0,8 mm) in 100, 500, and 1000 ohms. Standard tolerances available are 1/3 class
B, class A, class B, and 2 class B, and special selections with tighter or looser
tolerances are available on request.
Operation temperature range is minus 200 to + 600 ºC.
Some of the many advantages are:
- Extremely short response time
- Precise "spot measurements" on small objects
- Excellent long term stability
- Simple interchangeability
- Small dimensions - which make it possible to use it in applications where RTD's did not
use to be an option

New surface sensor series |
|
BETA and BEATA has put together a series of temperature probes for
screw mounting. Apart from being easy to mount the probes have several advantages:
- Good heat transfer from the surface to the sensor - which gives a short response time
and little offset.
- Flexibility in relation to sensor type. For instance NTC thermistors or Platinum
sensors.
- Flexibility in relation to lead wires / cables. For instance PVC- or Teflon-insulated
wires or thicker shielded and jacketed cable.
- Small dimensions.
